Big Bear Confectionary, a subsidiary of Raisio Group, boosted their new packaging line’s production by 7000 packs per shift by investing in a multihead weigher and checkweigher from Yamato Scale Dataweigh UK.

By boosting not only their speeds, but also the operational flexibility of the line in question, Big Bear Confectionary has achieved considerable improvements in their weighing and checking of their chocolate and sugar coated products.

According to the most recent Manufacturing Advisory Service’s report, a whopping 69% of SME manufacturers expect to purchase new premises or machinery over the next 6 months, with 61% also expecting an increase in sales turnover over the next 6 months.

MAS’s second quarter survey ‘Barometer’ painted an encouraging picture of the UK manufacturing industry towards the close of 2014.

Paul Burton’s Yamato Year

Paul Burton, Yamato’s regional sales manager for the South of England, recently celebrated a productive year with the company. Operating from Swansea to Sussex, he has more than 19 years’ experience in the food packaging industry.

Having started in the vacuum packing industry, working for Multivac and selling direct to chefs, his skillset and interests led him towards the parts of the packaging process closer to the end of line, such as checkweighers and product inspection appliances.

Lindén International AB can trace its roots to 1932, when Filip Lindén invested 1,000 Swedish Krona in purchasing a small house - in a deal which included a small stock of timber. He started to produce wooden pastry brushes with the surplus wood, eventually receiving orders from Stockholm businesses, growing steadily as he went along.
