Yamato Scale Dataweigh, the leading manufacturer of multihead weighers and checkweighers, has significantly strengthened its senior management team by announcing the appointments of a new Commercial Director, Finance Director and Technical Director, as it bids to grow its business in the UK, Scandinavia, the Middle East and South Africa.

UK Managing Director Neil Fowell today announced the creation of the new positions, which are designed to give the company more strategic direction and build on its excellent customer and after sales service.

Ray Bruen joins the company as Commercial Director following a year stint as European Business Development Manager at The Plastek Group – one of the industry leaders in the design and manufacture of consumer packaging and personal care products. He brings with him a wealth of experience in marketing, sales and business development, having been European Sales and Marketing Manager at Portola Packaging UK, European Sales Manager at Bapco Closures and Regional Key Account Manager at Tetra Pak for over 20 years, and has been tasked with overseeing the sales and marketing teams at Yamato. One of his first responsibilities will be driving sales of the recently launched Dataweigh Omega multihead weigher, which offers manufacturers increased speed and improved accuracy.

Speaking of his appointment, Ray Bruen commented: “I am delighted to be joining the team at Yamato. I have known Neil Fowell for a long time and worked with him for 19 years at Tetra Pak. The company is undergoing some significant changes and it is an exciting time to be joining.

“Yamato has a great reputation for manufacturing high quality weighing machines and my job will be to grow our business, building on the relationships we currently have with our customers and adding more value to the services we offer.

Having worked at Yamato for over 20 years, Ian Aitchison has been promoted to the new role of Technical Director. During his time at Yamato, he has worked as Technical Application Manager and Service Manager, ensuring that all new machinery is implemented correctly and performing to customers’ expectations. Working closely with the Commercial Director, Ian will be tasked with improving the overall service levels of the company.

Ian Aitchison said: “The sales process is more than just selling a machine, it’s all about making the customer happy from the moment we meet until the first weighment that passes through the machine. This will be at the heart of what we offer businesses going forward.”

Finally, Martyn Hodgson assumes the position of Financial Director after working for the business on a consultancy basis since October 2011. He will oversee all finance issues affecting the company and one of his first tasks will involve the development of the company’s first office in the Middle East.

Neil Fowell, Managing Director of Yamato Scale Dataweigh, went on to say: “We are making some big changes to our business. Ray brings with him a wealth of valuable experience and his background in engineering, as well as marketing and sales, will give us a unique two-sided perspective of how to drive the company forward.

“Ian has a unique knowledge of Yamato having being at the company for two decades. His promotion is well deserved and his input and insight will be essential for growing our business, whilst Martyn has already proved that he will be a great addition to the team.

“I am looking forward to working closely with Ray, Ian and Martyn over the coming years and growing the Yamato business in the UK, Scandinavia, the Middle East and South Africa.
